Device Authority Supports Intel® Secure Device Onboard
KeyScaler provides an additional security layer for onboarding and registering IoT devices beyond Intel® SDO technology, enabling rapid security automation for IoT scale

- Device Authority, a global leader in Identity and Access Management (IAM) for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announces its integration with Intel® Secure Device Onboard (Intel® SDO), providing secure onboarding and security provisioning tied to hardware roots of trust.
Today, the onboarding process for IoT typically takes over 20 minutes per device. This involves coordination among installation technicians, network administrators, and IoT operations all exposed to human error. This costly and manual process will hold the industry back from the promise of billions of connected devices. This time-intensive process is burdened with security holes, as exemplified by recent large-scale attacks in which device manufacturers have shipped default credentials that were co-opted for Botnet style DNS attacks.
Device Authority supports the Intel Secure Device Onboard model through which “headless” devices can be powered on to locate and automatically onboard to IoT management platforms. Intel delivers the open software, onboarding protocols, and ecosystem enablement solutions that are based on Intel Enhanced Privacy ID (Intel EPID), a privacy-preserving authentication scheme. Leveraging the Intel SDO model, Device Authority’s KeyScaler platform will receive the anonymous, attested device identity and IoT platform registration. KeyScaler will then manage the overlay and other security provisioning tasks such as swapping in a PKI credential or delivering a secure software update to the device.
